It's A Funny Old Life

To be honest, my writing has suffered of late. I've had a few articles appear here and there and a few stories a while ago but nothing substantial in terms of fiction. So I message a US mag who accepted a story of mine last year but hasn't done anything with it, and they say YES, it will be published, it's just taking longer than anyone expected.

Simultaneously another publisher has been in touch and have been working through another story with me.

Then I get notification that yet another story is on a shortlist and will be decided shortly.

TRIPLE WIN!!!!!!

All without having written a word (of new fiction) in the past three months. It just goes to show that patience in writing is an important part of the process, and just because you don't have a lot out there at any given time, doesn't mean nothing's happening.

New project

I've been working on a book of family-orientated children's stories, drawing on my experiences bringing up my kids as a single father. I asked AI to interpret one of the stories in art and it came up with this image (after a couple of dismal failures). It's actually a fair representation of the story. Now, to begin the daunting process of finding a publisher for this collection.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag - Best Game Ever!

Assassin's Creed Black Flag has easily surpassed my previous favourite game (Mass Effect 2) and then some. Anyone with a sense of adventure, anyone who likes a hearty sea shanty before bed time, anyone who yearns for a good old-fashioned sea duel and a bit of looting along the Spanish Main should play this game. You can almost feel the salty spray on your face, or the shudder of your ship as enemy cannon balls crash through it (in fact you can actually feel that through the hand controller). And I guarantee you'll raise a hearty cheer the first time you swing onto the rigging of a Brig and air assassinate its captain. "But I'm waiting to get it on my next gen console..." I hear you whimper. "Arrr, those be mighty soft words for a pirate!" I reply (as one of my crew mates did to me only last night).
